Evangelism and Witnessing - Every Member Ministry
Evangelism strategies are often aimed at those who are impoverished or experiencing personal or social difficulty. Is there room to minister to those who are socially prosperous? Is there evidence that Jesus ministered to those who were considered successful? If so, were there any benefits to this strategy?
I think there is room to minister to those who are socially prosperous as you put it, the story of salvation is for all humanity, the bible says all have emphasis being on all have sinned and therefore in need of a savior, Jesus certainly ministered to everyone, i can think of a few, lazarous, the rich young ruler, the roman centurion, whom christ commented later on that he had not found such faith as he displayed in all israel.
ReplyDeleteI believe the challenge is with us and the way we have presented Christ to the world, for most of us he is presented as some on to help us with the day to days struggles of this world, someone to help us find a job, protect our kids, bless us with riches but not so much as someone to help us with the sin problem. The rich don't necessarily think they need him and sometimes we don't think they need him too, after all they already have everything that we need him for, hence we don't minister to them as much as we need to. We need to understand the bigger picture and not be caught up with the mundane aspects of life, christ says seek me first, make me a priority. I know you need all Hesse other things that you think are important in your life, but seek me first and I'll help you deal and overcome one thing that will has the potential of coming between the two of us, and that is sin, he is saying let me help you overcome that in whatever form it presents itself to you.
That message is one that speaks to all of us, rich or poor, for we all struggle with the sin problem.
